There are number of explanations for the reasons the Planets and their Ext. and Deb. . Rasis.

Here is one more, this  has reference to House instead of Rasi.

1,5,9.. Dharma.. 2,6,10.. Arth( Karma).. 3,7,11. Kama,. 4,8,12.Moksha.

From the  Mooltrikon Rasi  of  Planet .***

SUN.. Ext. in  9.. Dharma. . Deb.in 3. Kama

MOON..Ext.  in 1. Dharma. Deb..in 7  Kama. 

MARS.. Ext. in 10 Arth .. Deb. in  4..Moksha.

MERCURY.. Ext. in 1. Dharma. Deb. 7 Kama

JUPITER.. Ext. in  8. Moksha.. Deb. in 2 Arth

VENUS.. Ext. in 6. Arth. . Deb.. 12. Moksha. 

SATURN.. Ext. in 9. Dharma.. Deb in. 3. Kama.

Now the IMPORTANT.. application of this in the Natal chart.

Take where the Planet is in the Chart from their count the number of Houses where the Planet will powerful like Ext. are weak as Deb.

Example.. Sun in 4 house... the 9 house from that 12 house . That's where the Sun will be Powerful like Ext. and 3 house from 4 is 6 house  where it will be Weak.

Another Example.. Jupiter in  5 house. 8   from there is 12  house. Jupiter will be powerful there.. and 2 from 5 is 6 house . where Jupiter will be weak.

In nutshell.. Where Sun is placed. 9 and 3

Moon 1 and 7. Mars.. 10 and 4, Mercury.. 1 and 7.

Jupiter 8 and 2, Venus. 6 and 12 and Saturn 9 and 3.

The powerful and weak houses..

(If already the Planet is Ext. Or Deb.  that's due to Rasi.. This is House based.. Take only the house the Planet posited)
