Bhav Vargottam ?
When a planet occupies same rashi in D-1 & D-9 it is termed as Vargottam planet. Like wise I wish to know if a planet occupies same Bhav (House) in D -1 & D-9 can we term it as Bhav Vargottam ? and will it get some addition potentiality in giving results ? although this phenomenon is no where quoted in texts ( to my knowledge) some how I have developed this question in my mind and I keep observing it as and when I come acroos any horoscope . plese enlighten me ! 1. A vargottam planet generally gains strength. even if it is debilitated. n most of the time it doesnt give inauspicious results even if it is a functional malefic.
2. ‎'Bhavottama means a planet in same house in Rasi and Navamsa charts. It enhances the good results of the house occupied..Bhovottama planet enhances the good effect of Varga chart as a whole. Prasana Marga annunciates following seven yogas, which lays down the basis of formation of yogas of all categories:
( Chapter Nine-Sloka: 49, 50, 51 and 52:)
There are seven varieties of yogas:
a. those formed by position – 1.Sthana (sign),
2. Those formed by Bhava (house)
3. Those formed by planets
4. Those formed by sign, Bhava and planets,
5. Those formed by sign and Bhava,
6. Those formed by Bhava and planets and
7. those formed by Sign and planets.
1. Sthana means 12 zodiac signs.
2. Bhava (house) means Lagna, etc. 12 houses.
3. The planets are Sun to Ketu- nine planets
The dominant cause of the yoga created by the combination of planets, houses and signs or any two of them indicates the nature of results to be experienced. The strongest in bringing about yoga is called Yogakarta (composer of yoga) and it is this combination which gives the yoga results.
Yoga of house, sign and planet- This yoga is formed when same sign is rising in two or more Vargas and simultaneously one or more planet(s) is / are in same Bhava(s) – obviously in same Signs
Planet(s) become both Bhava and Sign Vargottama and all the houses of two Vargas become Sign Vargottama.
This gives strength to Lagna and it becomes auspecious.
In such a case, if Moon also becomes Lagna Vargottama. This enhances the auspiciousness of the nativity many fold.
b. Yoga formed by Bhava and Sign – this yoga is formed when same sign is rising in two or more Varga’s.And no planet is in Vargottama.
c. Yoga formed with Sign and planet- this yoga is formed when a planet in the same sign in two Vargas. This planet is disposed to give auspicious results.
In case, Moon is in Sign Vargottama, Moon Lagna becomes strong to provide auspicious results.
d. Yoga formed by Bhava and Planet- this yoga is formed when a planet is in same Bhava in two or more Vargas. And this Yoga is termed as Bhavottama

the term Vargottama and Bhavpttama iswidely used by C. S . Patel in his book "Navamsa in Astrology .

The term uttama is used when either a graha occupies identical rashi in both Rasi and any of the varga charts (preferably the Navamsha chart) Or when the same rashi occupies the lagna position in similar two charts. Vargottama lagna is uttama rashi for lagna bhava. I agree. It tends to give good confidence to the jataka. The term bhavottama is not used as once the lagna becomes Vargottama, same rashis fall in identical bhavas. But that would not make it bhavottama, for the simple reason the bhava position for Rasi chart and navamsha chart is always identical, so in a way they are always bhavottama. Unless the rashis also coincide with the bhavas identical with rasi chart, in Navamsha, no special strength will be derived.
4. what u said is perfectly right . what i was trying to say is a planet becomes Bhavaottama bcos of " Yoga formed by Bhava and Planet" a planet occupying a specific bhava in lagna and navmasa .

6. You have raised a very valid point. Although the prevalent texts just mention that a planet is vargottam if it is in the same navamsa as the rashi it is in, your point needs to be further researched. A particular impetus of the said planet towards a certain direction is expected if it is in the same houses in the D1 and D9.
7. Bhava Vargottma is a new concept. It is not metioned in classical texts. Navamsha Chart is used as supplimentry Chart to look on micro levels of the Lagna chart. Rashi tulya Navamsha is very common quotation from Nadi Astrology.
8. Lagan Chart talks at Macro Level where like if Saturn transit in Tula rashi... will it be beneficial thoughout 30 degrees of Tula Rashi? Divisional Charts like Drekhana, Navamasha etc helps to look on specific aspects of life at Micro Level. it should be Bhav vargottam. vargottaama is nothing but it shows d strenght of d planet .
9. I respect all the given comments. I wish to add that the classical texts gives gives results of planets in rashish and also results of planets in bhava's. So taking clue from that I found it relevant to consider BHAV vargottam as in the case of Vargottam being in same rashi. diluted due to the any reasons one example take the sun in the lakkanam if
the sun occupies in both lakkanam the family will continue to receive the blessing of the sun god and the legacy of the family will continue whether professional or other wise. suppose father is an advocate and has sun in
the lakkanam and also sun in the lakkanam of navamsam his son will uphold
the family legacy of legal practices
2.in some case when father is a good singer and have bhav vargottam his son
will get the same fame and name inheriting his fathers goodwill, goodname
and profession

With out making cumbersome, the simple analogy I have in my mind is that, the classical texts gives results of planets in rashish and also results of planets in bhava's. So taking clue from that I found it relevant to consider BHAV vargottam as in the case of Vargottam being in same rashi. I do not boost since still in learning mode but what I found in this respect is that it gives more pronounced results.

Yes bhaava vargottam could be deemed to be text supported in case ascendents are repeated in the divisional charts,but than this will start declining concept of shifting planets in the chalit chakra.
