MAHADASA RULERS:: The much favoured and popular method for assessing each mahadasa is to evaluate the strength or weakness of its planetary ruler. Defining the quality – ‘good’ or ‘bad’ results-of each mahadasa based on its’ ruler’s general description and individual significance should be pointers for such results. The following delineations emphasize the general issues which will be important during each Mahadasa:
SUN MAHADASA: 6 Yrs duration: Involvement with public life - the focus will be on finances, career, travel, education, and acquisition of land (assets) – if Sun occupies 6th,8th,12th house from Lagna, in the birth chart or is otherwise poorly placed (in Tula or Makara), there may be loss of position, illness related to eyes or teeth, difficulties with authorities, the father, and inheritances.
MOON MAHADASA: 10 Yrs duration: If well placed in natal chart (away from Sun position in chart -72° of its either side -two and half houses), it will be fortunate to mother, partner (life), and children. Good time to begin new business. (Moon is most powerful in Rishab and if with Jupiter), commercial; venture, literary success, peace in family – if Moon is not well-placed, the person will vasilate as to professional ventures, emotional ups and downs, loses friends and relatives.
MARS MAHADASA: 7 Yrs duration: Strong will to any important assignment, excellent health, engage in sports achievements, travel, adventure, and unreserved help to all. Conversely, get chronic ailments, accidents, lose of limbs, marital problems, argumentativeness, irrational self destructive decisions, as well as restlessness.
RAHU MAHADASA: 18 Yrs duration: Rahu can never be individually benific unless well places or associated in the right place in birth chart. Even a good aspect from a beneficial planet could yield mild benefits only. If Rahu is positively positioned in a chart, in its Mahadasa, the native will be most successful in career anf family life, acquire money, and travel frequently to mny distant places including foreign lands. Otherwise placed Rahu in a birth chart could bring disaustrous results, break up of marriage ect. during its period of dasa.
JUPITER MAHADASA:: 16 Yrs duration: This Dasa often be a period of excess (both ‘good’ and ‘bad’). If it is well placed and not in any sambanda/drushti of Saturn, Mars, Rahu, Ketu and Sun in Thula where Sun is neecha, one will attract people, luck, hormony, sudden raise in status, marriage, the birth of children, success in profession. Many find success in Law, philosophy, theology, teaching profession, and have unlimited, unlisted success and prosperity. If, however, Jupiter is not well placed, the person will live in extravagance draining his resources, greed and in related acts against law of the land, loss of opportunities and laziness as well as job, or finances.
SATURN MAHADASA:: 19 Yrs duration:: If the Saturn is well placed, in this period, there is no limit for bringing success after success, gain and happy results for hard work, with unlimited progress. He will completely different natal at the end of the period to what he was at the start of this period. Saturn is the ‘Judge’ on our karma and he delivers the results in his period and that is why he is termed ‘Eswara’ which does not belong to other planets. Further, he is good hearted to give enough opportunities for rectification of human errors and attitudes. His ‘decision’ is related to the benefic take of other planets during their sub-periods in Saturn dasa. If Saturn is poorly placed or aspected, there will be continuous ill-ness, depression, loneliness, and obstacles which may be beyond control or jurisdiction.
MERCURY MAHADASA:: 17 Yrs duration: Very unsteady and indecisive period to pass by. This planet lends itself to changes of residences, jobs, or partners (even life partners); one could return to persue studies, start a new business, embarking in fields of writing, communications (under many heads), accounting and sales. If well placed, Mercury will bring success in business ventures. (One would note that mostly Mercury is near Sun in all birth chats gaining mostly influence from Sun – this reshapes the quality of contributions from Mercury – further neither it is in list of solids or liquids – confusing one’s inherited talents). One may see a therapist or makeelf-assessment in this long period of years. If Mercury is not well-placed, the person will have a period of depression, mental fatigue, pessimism, disappointments, and appreciable progress in business ventures.
KETU MAHADASA:: 7 Yrs duration: Ketu is never a individually benific. If well- placed could give new turns for betterment in career, promotion in job, marriage, spiritual awareness and meditation. When Ketu is ill-placed by aspect or position, one will suffer domestic losses including one directly related to him, monetary setbacks, personal/marital h unhappiness, and gain feeling of alienation.
VENUS MAHADASA:: 20 Yrs period:: Venus, well placed in birth chart, leads to love and attainment of individually planed desires. Relationships with spouses, lovers, siblings, friends, will gain undivided attention. There will be plenty of mile stones of success to be crossed during this period – succful marriage, accumulation of wealth, pleasure to gain, extravaganzas, happy events in fmily, glammer involved social life, births of children etc leading to fulfil ever ‘enlarging’ personal desires and processing luxury items. If Venus is ill placed in birth chart, one woul lose all his wealth gradually by mis-judgement, collect disrespect in all avenues and relations, constant quarrel in the family, bodily sufferings, disappointing relationship with opposite sex, drain of mental faulty etc.
The tact of these findings in a chart is based on ability to grade the planetary strength, their possibility of negative and positive performance and other related inferences. So these will be in high ‘tide’ with the combination of other non-cooperating Planets by various virtues. (CONCLUDED)
