वेदान्त में एक मात्रकविहीन सार्वभौमिक ध्रुवांक 108 का उल्लेख मिलता है जिसका हजारों वर्षों पूर्व हमारे ऋषियों (वैज्ञानिकों) ने अविष्कार किया था l

पृथ्वी और चन्द्र के बीच १०८ चन्द्रमा आ सकते हैं .

8 सूचित करता है उस विश्व की अनंतता को जिसका अविर्भाव उस शून्य में ब्रह्म की अनंत अभिव्यक्तियों से हुआ है .
अतः ब्रह्म, शून्यता और अनंत विश्व के संयोग को ही 108 द्वारा सूचित किया गया है .
जिस प्रकार ब्रह्म की शाब्दिक अभिव्यंजना प्रणव ( अ + उ + म् ) है और नादीय अभिव्यंजना ॐ की ध्वनि है उसी प्रकार ब्रह्म की गाणितिक अभिव्यंजना 108 है .

There is a dimensionless universal constant, 108, which has been mentioned in the Vedanta and discovered by our ancient Rishis (Scientists) thousands of years ago.
For my convenience, let me take 108 = Om and it stands for the perfection/ completeness.
Various manifestations of Om in Nature:
1. The distance between sun and earth/the diameter of the sun = 108 = Om
150,000,000 km/1,391,000 km = 108 (108 suns can occupy the distance between the sun and the earth.)
2. The diameter of sun/diameter of earth = 108 = 1 Om
1,391,000 km/12,742 km = 108 = 1 Om
The sun can occupy 108 earths on its diameter.
3. Distance between earth and moon/diameter of moon = 108 = 1 Om
384403 km/3474.20 km = 108 = 1 Om
The moon walks 108 steps to meet mother earth.
4. Age of Man completes in 108 years (1 Om years)
According to Astrology a man undergoes the Ashtottari Mahadasha (total of which is 108 years) of the planets in his life time.
5. A calm, healthy and happy adult person completes a day by taking 200 Om breaths (100 Om during the day and 100 Om during the night).
15 breaths in 1 minute >> 10800 breaths in 12 hours >> 100 Om breaths in a day/night.
6. The heart of a calm, healthy and happy adult man beats 4 Om times in 1 Muhurt.
72 beats in 1 munute >> 432 beats in 6 minutes >> 4x108 beats in 6 minutes >> 4 Om beats in 1 Muhurt (6 munutes ).
7. The 9 planets (the Grahas as defined in Vedic Astrology) complete one revolution around the Bhachakra covering 12 Rashis (Signs) and 12x9 =108 =1 Om.
8. The 9 planets complete one revolution around the Bhachakra covering 27 Nakshatras (Lunar Mansions) and each Nakshatra consists of 4 Charans and 27 x 4 = 108 = 1 Om.
9. A solar day completes in 200 Om Vipals. There are 100 Om Vipal in a day and 100 Om Vipal in a night. (1 second = 2.5 Vipal)

The Metaphysical interpretation of 108
1 stands for the uniqueness/oneness/
0 stands for the state of emptiness which would have been prevailed if the universe had not been existed.
8 stand for the infinity of the universe which has evolved from the various manifestation of the Brahma in the emptiness.
Therefore 108 is the union of the Brahma, the emptiness and the infinite universe.
As the literal interpretation of the Brahma is the Pranav (a + u +m) and its acoustic manifestation is the echo of the sound ‘Om’, similarly the mathematical denotation of the Brahma is 108.
