 “The Brihat Jataka”: Chapter X: ‘Benefic or powerful planets placed in the Lagna, 2nd House, and 11th Huse help the native to earn money through professional acumen. Benefics in the 11th house and in the Lagna provide benefic Argala on the 10th house. As you know, 2nd house represents ‘finance’ and 10th house represents ‘Poorva Punya’ – the bebefit out of it. Whenever any planet occupy or aspect 10th house, they influence – in ‘gradation’- the professional status to a great extent.

1. ‘When 10th house is not occupied by a planet’:: The strongest planet between the Lord of the 10th house in the birth chart and the Lord of the Navansha occupied by the 10th Lord, generally indicate the nature of the profession. 

2. ‘When the 10th house is occupied by a planet’ ::The strongest planet amongst (a) the Lord of the tenth house, (b) the Lord of the Navansha occupied by the 10th Lord, (c) the planet placed in the tenth house will become primary determinant in indicating the profession.

3. When the 10th house is occupied by more than one planet:: The strongest planet amongst (1) the Lord of the 10th house, (2) The Lord of the Navansha occupied by 10th Lord and (3) the most powerful planet occupying the 10th house will become the primary determinant of profession and career.


NOTE: The Navansha chart indicates skills and the nature of profession, whereas the Dasamsa chart indicates success and failure in that profession.


SUN: Medicine, wool, grass, water, grain, gold, govt. including Ministers;


MOON: agriculture, water resources, apparel, etc;


MARS: Metallurgy, warn, using weapons, fire etc;


MERCURY: Arts, poetry, astrology, priest, preachers, etc;


JUPITER: Teacher, prophet, Imam, prohit, law, etc;


VENUS: Gold, elephants, cattle, vehicles of all types and its subsidiaries, etc;


SATURN: Carpenter, servants, building constructers and allied jobs, manual labour of all types.
