References from : Astavakra Samhita :
Commentator Swami Nityaswarupananda ji, Advaita Ashram, Kolkata.

Important explanations as quoted  in  :

Ch  1 :  Shloka  2 :

a. The giving up of external objects, implies also the necessity of controlling the sense organs.
b. Giving up attachment to worldly things is negative practice, and cultivation of moral virtues is the positive.   (Moral virtues detailed in the post dated 19.6.2018 )

Ch  1 :  Shloka  4 :

Detach : Identifying the Self with body, thus attributing, to the Self, the limitations, such as birth, disease, death etc.

Ch  1 :  Shloka  6 :

Virtue & Vice, pleasure and pain are all mental states which affect us only when we identify ourselves with the mind and think of ourselves as doers and enjoyers.

Ch  1 :  Shloka  8 :

Egoism causes Spiritual death. Destruction of egoism restores spiritual consciousness and frees from misery.

Ch  1 :  Shloka  9 :

Ignorance obstructs the vision of truth.

Ch  1 :  Shloka  19 :

As a  mirror exists within and without the image reflected in it, so is the Self exists. As the reflection cannot affect the mirror, so body, mind etc. can not affect the self.

Ch  2 :  Shloka  16 :

The root of misery is DUALITY.

Ch  2 :  Shloka  17 & 18 :

I am Pure consciousness. Through ignorance I have imposed limitations upon myself. When by constantly reflecting on the pure nature of the Self, this ignorance is destroyed. The illusion loses its support and vanishes.

Absolute : Where DUALITY vanishes and the Self shines in its pristine glory.

Ch  2 :  Shloka  25 :

In me, the shore less ocean, the waves of individual selves according to the KARM’s कर्म of the Jiv जीव, rise, strike, play for a time and disappears. When ignorance is destroyed and  KARM’s कर्म is worked out.
